This is Us
Dee Dee Writes is an organizational platform for the writings of its CEO and Founder Deidra L. McEachern. Here, you will find her latest completed or in-progress works, soon to be released. Our goal is to present books and films relatable to a wide range of readers and viewers from various backgrounds. These projects will be so real that audiences no longer are simply readers or observers, but actually become intertwined in the stories as the narratives unfold before their eyes. This is a space for suggestions of good reads by well-known authors. Not only that, here we will feature new, lesser-known, and upcoming authors, playwrights, filmmakers, and writers from all genres. She wrote and directed her freshman film project a short film, He Only Hit Me Four Times in 2023. She is currently shopping it around for film festivals. Thereafter it will be available for public viewing. "Watch this space."
CEO & FOUNDER
Deidra L. McEachern is the CEO and Founder of Dee Dee Writes. She is a licensed attorney in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area where she is a partner at The McEachern Law Firm, Inc. A Michigan native, Deidra McEachern earned her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University and her Juris Doctorate Degree from Howard University School of Law. She has penned several writings over the years but only recently decided to have her works published and made available to the general public. A wife and mother of two adult girls, she loves food, fashion, spending time with her family, and traveling nationally and internationally.
A (W)hole in Her Heart “Love’s Journey to Find Itself" is her first published project. Her second is the recently released children's book Leader Meter - Children's Lessons Through Rhymes. Currently, she's casting for her movie short, "He Only Hit Me Four Times," a short film about domestic violence and one woman's inability to recognize that she was a victim until she is faced with an incident that makes it undeniably clear that she is. He Only Hit Me Four Times is a short film about domestic violence. It aims to shed light on this growing problem and change the way we look at victims, dispelling myths and stereotypes. I desire that seeing the film will encourage open and honest dialogue on the subject of domestic violence that will lead to lasting and meaningful changes and solutions. Stay tuned to learn when this film will be available for viewing to the general public. We are pleased to announce that He Only Hit Me Four Times was a Finalist at the Essence Film Festival and has been selected for the Madrid Film Festival and The Feedback Female Film Festival. It has also won the BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS AWARD at the Madrid Film Festival and the BEST STORY AWARD at the Feedback Female Film Festival.
